
Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.02% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Lasertec Corp (TYO:6920), which rose 10.48% or 2,010.00 points to trade at 21,195.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) added 9.63% or 303.00 points to end at 3,448.00 and Takashimaya Co., Ltd. (TYO:8233) was up 8.19% or 124.50 points to 1,644.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:5631), which fell 4.14% or 368.00 points to trade at 8,518.00 at the close. Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501) declined 3.75% or 25.70 points to end at 659.90 and Taisei Corp. (TYO:1801) was down 3.39% or 350.00 points to 9,985.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2205 to 1385 and 256 ended unchanged.
Shares in Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.63% or 303.00 to 3,448.00. Shares in Takashimaya Co., Ltd. (TYO:8233) rose to 5-year highs; rising 8.19% or 124.50 to 1,644.50.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.25% to 24.05.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.75% or 0.47 to $62.87 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.70% or 0.47 to hit $67.15 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.15% or 42.60 to trade at $3,748.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 148.07, while EUR/JPY rose 0.06% to 173.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.32.
